Charles Valentine Riley Memorial Lecture Series


The Riley Memorial Lecture Series was established by the Riley Memorial Foundation to keep alive the legacy of Dr. Charles Valentine Riley, a prominent figure of the agricultural industry in the 19th century who possessed a vision for enhancing the success of agriculture through new scientific knowledge. This lecture series is a partnership between the Riley Memorial Foundation, the Borlaug Institute, and USDA National Agriculture Library.

The inaugural lecture was held March 2, 2006 in College Station, TX. Dr. Per Pinstrup-Anderson of Cornell University was the lecturer. Please click here for a proceedings of the lecture (491kb).

The next lecture will be held on February 28, 2008 on in Washington, DC, as part of an extended partnership with the Association of International Agriculture and Rural Development and in conjunction with the 2008 Capitol Hill Forum onĀ  Agriculture: The Fuel for Sustainable Economic Development.
